The Indian squad for the remaining three Tests is likely to be announced by February 8 as per report in SportsTak. India won the second Test in Visakhapatnam by 106 runs. England chasing 399 to win was bowled out for 292. The win helped India draw level in the series and jump up to the second position on the WTC points table.

India so far have played six matches in the ongoing WTC campaign winning three matches and losing two. One match ended in a draw. England on the other hand, are placed eighth on the table. Australia are leading the WTC points table after Test series win over West Indies.

Team India bounced back in style after losing the first Test by 28 runs. The Indian team were without Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli in the second Test. While there is no update on the likely return of the duo, KL Rahul who missed the second Test due to a right quadricep injury is likely to return in the third Test.

Meanwhile. Jasprit Bumrah who was the Man of the Match in the second Test for his nine-wicket haul is likely to be rested in the third Test in Rajkot. Mohammed Siraj is expected to replace him in the XI.

With the return of a few players on the cards, there might be a few changes in the Indian playing XI. There are concerns over the form of a few players. KS Bharat and Mukesh Kumar’s performances in the second Test were not up to the mark and a decision needs to be taken.

I think it’s best to ask the selectors – India head coach Rahul Dravid on Virat Kohli

The management is still awaiting an update on the return of Virat Kohli. In case he is unavailable for the third test as well. Sarfaraz Khan will come into the picture for selection after Rajat Patidar could not make most of his chances in the second Test. There are also question marks on whether Shreyas Iyer will be given another chance after his continuous failures. Iyer scored 27 and 29 in the two innings of the Vizag Test.

“I think it’s best to ask the selectors. I am sure they are the best people to answer ahead of the team selection for the next three Tests. We will get to that. I am sure there will be selection over the next few days. We will connect with him and find out,” Rahul Dravid told the press on Monday in Vizag.

Like Iyer, KS Bharat has come under criticism for his inability to score runs with the bat. So far in the first two Tests, he has scored 92 runs at an average of 23.00. In the Vizag Test, he scored 17 and 6. Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan are backups in the side as well.

India are still without the likes of Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant in their Test side. While Shami is recovering from an ankle injury, Pant is expected to make a comeback in the IPL and make a case for his selection for the T20 World Cup 2024.
