West Indies were outplayed in the first T20I by the Men in Blue. Rohit Sharma’s men will be riding high with confidence after their performance in the opening game of the series and will look to repeat their performance whereas the hosts will need to be at their absolute best to win the 3rd T20I.

West Indies are going through a rough patch in the white ball formats and will need to take inspiration from their spirited performances to make a comeback. They will look for an elusive win that will change the fortunes of their team and will give them much-needed hope moving ahead.

West Indies came out in an attacking mindset but their batters failed to cross the 20-run mark in the match. Shamarh Brooks, Kyle Mayers, and Nicholas Pooran looked good in the short stay in the crease. 6 of the top-7 batters excluding Jason Holder, who didn’t trouble the scorers, hit a six each but kept losing wickets throughout the match.

Keemo Paul, Alzarri Joseph, and Jason Holder took 4 wickets between them but went for 120 runs in their 10 overs. Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4-0-14-1 in the 1st T20I match and Obed McCoy bowled decently in the death overs and power play. They might bring in Dominic Drakes or Romario Shepherd in this match.

India’s experiment to promote Suryakumar Yadav worked well and he played an attacking 16-ball 24-run cameo. Rohit Sharma played some blistering shots and scored 64 runs with wickets falling at the other end on a heap. Finisher Dinesh Karthik played the game-changing knock of 41 runs to build a vital 52-run partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin for the seventh wicket.

Pacers Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, despite going for runs early on, took crucial wickets in the power play and shared 3 wickets between them. The spin trio of Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, and Ravindra Jadeja ran riot in the middle overs with combined figures of 12-0-74-5 in the 1st T20I match.

It remains to be seen if the team management continues with the trio of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi, or brings in the likes of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav in the 3rd T20I.

Harshal Patel may also replace Ravichandran Ashwin if the pitch favours pacers. West Indies may play the same XI with the likes of Brandon King, Romario Shepherd, Hayden Walsh, Dominic Drakes, and Devon Thomas warming the bench.
