Ravindra Jadeja’s future with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is uncertain, according to former Indian opener Aakash Chopra.

In this campaign, the 33-year-old had a rough go of it, losing six of his eight games as captain. His bowling and fielding appeared to improve slightly after he stepped down as captain, but his batting performance remained poor.

Even though Jadeja is sidelined for the remainder of the IPL 2022 season due to injury, Aakash Chopra believes a lot is happening behind the scenes for CSK.

This is what Aakash Chopra had to comment about the game between CSK and the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a video on his YouTube channel:

“This match will be played without Jaddu (Jadeja). But I’m starting to think he might not even show up next year. When a player is injured or dropped in the Chennai camp, you have no idea what happened to him. Suresh Raina had a similar experience in 2021. They abruptly dropped him after a few games.”

Aakash Chopra believes the game against MI would be difficult because the two teams have a long history of rivalry and close games.

He explained: “Chennai will need to keep winning to advance. There is a mathematical probability, but victory is necessary for that to happen. Everything begins with the requirement to win games. When they play Mumbai, the games are difficult but entertaining.”

CSK is mathematically still in the competition, but only if they win all of their remaining games. I will play for pride, as well as to eliminate their arch-rivals from the tournament, if they win today (May 12) at Wankhede Stadium.
