Former West Indian cricketer Ian Bishop revealed that Mumbai Indians (MI) captain, Rohit Sharma, was going through a tough phase and looked completely broken following his team’s eighth loss in a row in the IPL 2022 season.

MI sits at the bottom of the points table with 0 wins in 8 matches, the worst-ever start in IPL history. Their losing streak has mostly come down to the lack of strong bowling options and inconsistent batting. Bishop recommended changes that can be made for MI, who has nothing but pride to play for.

When I spoke to Rohit after the last game, he seemed a broken man, understandably. It is a franchise with a great pedigree. I think they need some personnel changes.

Personally, I think they need Tim David. I don’t know why he hasn’t featured more often. They need someone in that batting lineup to get them to a more significant score to hold things, and maybe power up. Obviously, Suryakumar Yadav has been playing well,” Bishop told Star Sports.

MI is known to close out games but they are lacking the final blow, particularly due to the bowling attack which is heavily reliant on Jasprit Bumrah. If the Indian speedster fails, the 5-time champions are certainly doomed. Their foreign recruits have been underwhelming as well, which has worsened their cause.

Their bowling has been leaking runs at critical times in matches, so it’s disappointing for them this year. But still, they got to see how they can get out of it, and how they can develop some of those players going forward,” he further mentioned.

Mumbai will be looking to spoil the playoff hopes of other teams and also salvage the horrendous situation they find themselves in. They will face off against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday night.
