IPL 2022 Retentions: RR Yet To Decide On Sanju Samson, Rashid Khan Wants To Be SRH's No.1 Retention - Reports

The IPL 2022 auctions will see many players going under the auction, the BCCI has allowed each franchise to retain a maximum of four players. 

One can blindly expect veteran names like MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to be retained by their respective franchises.

Rashid Khan wants to be retained as SRH’s No.1 player

There have been media reports which mention franchises retaining their key players.

According to a report by Cricbuzz, Rajasthan Royals are yet to decide about their skipper Sanju Samson’s future with the franchise, while Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan wants to be their No.1 player of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

But the franchise might consider skipper Kane Williamson to give that position as the price difference between the two positions is Rs 4 crore. 

KL Rahul to be approached by Lucknow franchise

Earlier reports had suggested that Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul will part ways with the franchise and it is believed that he might be targeted by the Lucknow outfit for IPL 2022.

According to the report, Shreyas Iyer will prefer to be in the auction pool rather than being retained while Shikhar Dhawan is one of the players hotly pursued by the two new teams. Pandya brother will be approached by the Ahmedabad franchise if they do not get picked by Mumbai Indians.

According to an Indian Express report, four-time IPL champions CSK has retained MS Dhoni along with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad.

The Chennai outfit is also in talks with England all-rounder Moeen Ali as their fourth retention player. 

Delhi Capitals, who finished on top of the IPL 2021 points table, have decided to retain Rishabh Pant, who led them in the last season. 

Apart from Pant, Delhi Capitals have also retained all-rounder Axar Patel, opener Prithvi Shaw and South African pacer Anrich Nortje.

Kolkata Knight Riders are likely to retain its senior players Sunil Narine and Andre Russell and will decide between Venkatesh Iyer and Shubman Gill. 

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians have retained skipper Rohit Sharma and pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah. The franchise is also chasing their star all-rounder Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan.
