The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni will be leading the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which will be the 16th edition of the marquee T20 tournament.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) had a poor run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, where they were led by two different captains in the same season.

Notably, on March 24, just a few days before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 began, legendary captain MS Dhoni decided to hand over the CSK captaincy to Jadeja.

However, Chennai Super Kings struggled under Jadeja’s captaincy as they won only 2 games and faced 6 defeats.

Jadeja’s form with bat and ball also took a big hit as in the 15th edition of the cash-rich league he scored just 112 runs and bagged 5 wickets. After that, Jadeja decided to hand back the captaincy to Dhoni to focus more on his game. Jadeja only played 2 matches under Dhoni before being ruled out of the tournament due to a bruised.

Overall, Chennai Super Kings won only 4 games in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League and finished at the 9th position on the points table.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO Kasi Viswanathan has made it very clear that they have no plans to make any change in the leadership and Dhoni will captain the 4-time IPL winning franchise in the Indian Premier League 2023.

“There is no change in our stance. We never said that there will be a change,” Kasi told InsideSport.

Talking about Jadeja, who was CSK’s first-choice retention ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction, things don’t seem all good between the franchise and the star all-rounder.

Last month TOI reported that Jadeja hasn’t been in touch with the CSK since the end of IPL 2022. Also, Jadeja removed all posts related to the Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and 2022 campaigns from his official Instagram account.
