IND vs PAK: Suryakumar Yadav Is Going To Win You More Games Batting At No.3 - Gautam Gambhir

Former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir stressed that Suryakumar Yadav batting at No.3 will allow him to face more deliveries and hence more time around the crease. 

Suryakumar has become the X-factor of Indian batting in the last one year. His ability to bat in any situation has helped the team to do well in pressure situations against tough sides.

Where should Suryakumar Yadav bat for India in T20Is?

SKY has constantly proved himself to be the most vital component of the Indian T20 batting line-up. The Mumbai batter has batted six times at No.3 and scored 176 runs at 35.20 and a strike rate of 157.14.

Suryakumar is the top-ranked Indian T20 batter,  currently ranked at No.3 in the ICC rankings. His strike rate of 177.52 looks surreal for any top-order batsman.

“Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) needs to bat at three. I think it is very very important. I think we need to do something differently. Use his form. Don’t push him down the order,” Gambhir said while speaking to Star Sports.

“Don’t push him at No.4. Give him more deliveries to play. He’s going to win you more games by batting at No.3 compared to batting No.4 or No.5,” he added.

The Indian middle order batter is one of the rarest breeds of conventional hitters to score in all directions of the ground. 

The more deliveries he plays, the more panic he can create in the opponent’s camp by exploiting the field.

Suryakumar scored an unbeaten 68 off just 26 deliveries against Hong Kong and the team would be keen to use his terrific form in the next stage of the Asia Cup.

India will face arch-rival Pakistan again in the Super Four stage. Even though they defeated Pakistan in the group stage they can’t make the mistake of taking Pakistan lightly.

Pakistan will certainly come up with better plans and with the uncertain form of top-3 Indian batters, promoting Suryakumar up the order can be a great bet.
