While the dates for IPL 2023 auctions closing in, the franchises have already started brainstorming ideas for the auction. According to strong reports, the auction will be held in mid-December, unlike last time when it happened in February just over a month ago from the tournament.

There are no retention rules, which means the franchises can keep their best players and release several players to make space in their purses for the auction. There will be a number of marquee stars who will be up for grabs in the auction and the teams’ purse has also been increased. In this article, let’s take a look at three Indian players who can be sought-after names on the basis of their current performance.

IPL 2023: 3 Indian Players Who Will Cause A Bidding War Based on T20 World Cup 2022 Performance

Arshdeep Singh

Pacer Arshdeep Singh was retained by the Punjab Kings for 4 crores before IPL 2022. His stats in the IPL 2022 does not reflect the actual performance on the ground. Although Arshdeep Singh could pick up only 10 wickets in 14 matches, he was very good during the crucial moments of the game.

If at all, PBKS decides to let go of the pacer and buy him back for a cheaper price it could not go their way. Arshdeep has the potential to cause a bidding war, given his sublime performance at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 where he has scalped 7 wickets in 3 matches and currently occupied the 10th spot in the leaderboard for most wickets.

Virat Kohli

While Virat Kohli relinquished the RCB captaincy reins last year, it’s however expected the franchise is going to retain the former India skipper. In case they opt otherwise owing to his below-par performance last season, Virat Kohli will demand quite a market fee in the IPL 2023 auction.

Kohli did not live up to expectations in the IPL 2022 season, managing to score 309 runs in 14 games. Kohli, however, overcame his lean patch hitting his 71st international ton during Asia Cup 2022 and then showing superb form at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022. He is currently India’s top scorer at the multi-national event with 156 runs from 3 matches and the highest score of unbeaten 82*.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been one of the most consistent batsmen for Mumbai in the last 3 seasons. The middle-order player has anchored the innings for Mumbai and has also played the role of a power hitter. In 8 matches of IPL 2022, Surykumar Yadav scored 303 runs before he was ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2022 due to an injury.

While he might also be one of the best replacements for Rohit Sharma if he decides to relinquish his captaincy, he is another player who can cause quite a stir in the IPL 2023 auction based on his recent performances.

SKY is currently the second-highest scoring Indian in the T20 World Cup after Virat Kohli and is 7th on the list with 134 runs from 3 games at an average of 67.
