Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Devon Conway opened up about his side’s win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. He said that they have a great culture in Chennai and they are grateful to have MS Dhoni in the team as well.

Devon Conway continued his red-hot form in the IPL 2023 as he played another staggering knock and was a vital contributor to his side’s win. The Kiwi batter slammed yet another half-century in the season and laid the platform for his side.

Conway batted with a strike rate of 140 and smashed 4 fours and 3 sixes in his innings that helped CSK post a total of 235 runs on the board and then eventually win the game by the margin of 49 runs.

Devon Conway opened up about his partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad and said that credit for his success goes to him. He added that his role is to put bowlers under pressure. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:

“My partnership with Rutu at the top, it calms the nerves for me. We try to keep it simple. A lot of credit goes to Rutu. Just trying to be as clear as possible. I’ve always had issues with the balls straight and on the bodyline, seems to be getting that away in the last few games. My role is to put bowlers under pressure. Using my feet gets me into those good position and creates momentum through the innings.”

Devon Conway further went on to say that having someone like MS Dhoni in the mix it’s great for him as everyone feels comfortable and backed. He added:

“The culture that we have in Chennai is special. Everyone feels very comfortable, everyone feels backed. We have a good vibe in the group. For us, it’s about continuing this momentum and moving forward in the tournament. Having MS in your group, it’s great to have him. It does feel like a home fixture every time we play. CSK fans get behind him and us as a group, good to be part of this group.”

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be next seen in action when they will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next game on Thursday (27th April).
