IPL 2024: List of records created by SRH as they break RCB's record of highest IPL total

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), on Wednesday (March 27), broke Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) long-standing record of the highest total in IPL as they posted a huge score of 277 for 3 against Mumbai Indians in the eighth match of the ongoing IPL 2024.

Asked to bat first, SRH came out all guns blazing as the likes of Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen scored whirlwind fifties. While Mayank Agarwal departed cheaply for 11, it did not affect Head and Sharma much. Head raced away to his fifty in just 18 balls to break the record of the fastest fifty for SRH in the IPL.

However, his record did not last long as Sharma did it in just 16 balls. After Head and Sharma’s departure, Klaasen took charge of the innings. The right-handed batsman smashed a 23-ball fifty to help his side finish on 277 for 3. Klaasen eventually remained unbeaten on 80 off just 34 balls.

In the final over of the innings, Klaasen hit Shams Mulani for a six to break helping SRH break RCB’s long-standing record for the highest total in the IPL. RCB had scored 263 for 5 against now-defunct Pune Warriors India in 2013.

Apart from registering the highest-ever IPL total, SRH have created and broken several other records as well. Here are some of those records:

SRH reached the 200-run mark in 14.4 overs and have become the second-fastest team to do so. The record is held by RCB who did it in 14.3 overs against Punjab Kings in 2017.

SRH now hold the record for scoring the most runs in the first ten overs of an IPL innings. They scored 148 for 2 against MI and broke MI’s record. Incidentally, MI had created the record against SRH when they scored 131 for 3 in 10 overs in IPL 2021.
