Former Pakistani cricketers Ramiz Raja and Rashid Latif were extremely critical about Pakistan's loss to New Zealand in the 4th of a 5-match home T20I series.

The Green Army was coming at the back of a 7-wicket loss against the Kiwis in the 3rd T20I at Rawalpindi after winning the 2nd T20I by the same margin. Pakistan had a golden opportunity to increase their lead at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore which hosted the most recent match against a B-string Kiwi team.

Pakistan's inconsistent batting performance in Lahore

However, their hopes of defeating the inexperienced Blackcaps team were shattered as a target of 179, set by the visitors, proved to be too much for the hosts. The Kiwi top-order of Tim Robinson (51), Tom Blundell (28), and Dean Foxcroft (34) had laid the foundation while Jimmy Neesham (11) and Michael Bracewell (27) had provided the finishing touches.

In response, Pakistan got off to a crumbling start as they were reduced to 3 wickets within powerplay as Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan departed when the score was at 46. Number 5 batter Shadab Khan lost his wicket at 79 runs and at that time, the hosts were looking far off from the target.

Left-hand batter Fakhar Zaman then partnered with Iftikhar Ahmed for 59 runs before the latter's exit after a 20-ball 23. Then Zaman left the crease 6 runs later after a relatively slow knock of 61 off 45. 5 runs later at 151, Abbas Afridi was also sent to the pavilion while Usama Mir was the last wicket to fall when Pakistan were at 165.

Incoming all-rounder Imad Wasim tried his best with his 11-ball 22 but he was unable to get his team over the line as Pakistan were restricted to 174. The Kiwis eventually walked away after gaining a 2-1 lead with pacer William O'Rourke becoming man of the match for figures of 3/27.

Ramiz Raja calls Pakistan's loss a case of "over-experimentation"

While speaking on his latest YouTube video about Pakistan's loss to New Zealand in Lahore, Ramiz Raja was not in the mood to hold back. The former PCB chairman called it a case of over-experimentation, claiming that the management is unnecessarily assessing the skills of certain players at different positions. Raja labeled it as the major reason behind the Men in Green's tragic loss.

"There's experimentation happening here, 'so-called experimentation'. The same players are still involved, just their positions have been changed. They're trying to assess the skills of some players, which is why they are justifying their below-par performance that if we lose the match, please bear with us." - Ramiz Raja said on YT video.

Rashid Latif points out internal differences

Former Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Rashid Latif had a different opinion altogether. He is of the view that there is some sort of argument or cold war going on inside the dressing room and that they are not just playing on the ground, they are playing outside of it as well.

Rashid Latif was trying to indicate that certain players are unhappy with the current regime with a few also not happy to see Babar Azam lead the team. "When you are playing outside the ground, then you won’t be able to perform on the field during a match. I can say this for certain and I’m sure people can understand what I’m trying to say." - Rashid Latif claimed.
