Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will host the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 34th game of the ongoing IPL 2024 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on April 19.

Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav is likely to return for the IPL 2024 clash against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after missing his team’s last two matches against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL 2024.

Lucknow’s pace sensation bowled just one over during LSG's clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 7 before leaving the field due to discomfort in his lower abdomen. However, there's good news for LSG fans, as the talented young pacer has resumed bowling in training sessions.

The Lucknow-based franchise shared a video on its official social media platforms where Mayank Yadav can be seen bowling in the nets, which hinted at his possible return to action against the CSK. Under the watchful eyes of LSG head coach Justin Langer, the youngster was seen bowling at full pace.

The 21-year-old bowler claimed three-wicket hauls against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and was named Player of the Match in both games for his contribution to LSG's wins. He has six wickets in three games to his name in the tournament.

"LSG doesn't want to rush him"

Earlier, LSG head coach Justin Langer said about Mayank's injury: “But we had an MRI scan, and there is a very, very small swelling in there. So, we are very hopeful he'll start building himself up and be back bowling again soon.”

On the other hand, the LSG skipper KL Rahul had stated: “He (Mayank Yadav) is feeling good, he looks good, but we don't want to rush him. We need to protect his body; he's itching to go. Need to make sure that he's hundred percent (fit) before he comes back in a couple of matches.”

Having been impressed by the LSG pacer’s early speed, former Australia pacer Brett Lee shared crucial advice for Mayank. Lee feels Yadav should prioritize his fitness and look to deliver impressive performances consistently to achieve greater heights in the game of cricket.

Notably, Lucknow is presently the 5th-ranked team on the IPL 2024 points table with 6 points in 6 games, and now they are looking to move ahead in the standings with each coming game in the league. LSG’s next matches in the ongoing IPL 2024 are against CSK, RR, MI, and KKR.
