Former Australia pacer Brett Lee has shared a piece of crucial advice for Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mayank Yadav. Brett Lee feels Yadav should prioritize his fitness. The LSG pacer has grabbed a lot of limelight with his lethal pace attack in IPL 2024.

With his consistent 150-plus deliveries, Mayank Yadav grabbed back-to-back three-wicket hauls in his first two IPL games. He led the team to victories in both games and also won the Player of the Match award.

However, the right-arm pacer faced an injury in their third game against Gujarat Titans. He bowled just one over in the match and had to leave the field due to an injury concern. Now, the 24-year-old pacer is expected to miss more games in IPL 2024 before his comeback.

I advise Mayank Yadav to prioritize fitness: Brett Lee

During an interview with TOI, Australia pace legend Brett shared a key piece of advice for Mayank Yadav. The former right-arm pacer feels the LSG pacer should prioritize his fitness and strive for consistency in his performance.

“Given the susceptibility of fast bowlers to injuries, it is paramount to approach his workload cautiously. As a newcomer, Mayank displays commendable raw talent and finesse in his bowling technique, deserving careful nurturing”.

“Recognising his potential, particularly with his exciting 150k per hour pace, consistency becomes imperative. Drawing from my two decades of experience maintaining such high speeds, I advise Mayank to prioritize fitness and strive for consistency in his performances”, said Brett Lee.

Earlier, the former Aussie pacer lauded Yadav after his spectacular debut in IPL 2024 on X. “India has just found its fastest bowler. Mayank Yadav, Raw pace. Very impressive”, Lee had tweeted.

Mayank Yadav felt a little bit of tightness: Coach Justin Langer

LSG Head Coach Justin Langer opened up about Mayank Yadav’s injury in the LSG vs GT match. Langer revealed he faced a bit of tightness in his hip. He also added that he would be back on the field soon.

"He felt a little bit of tightness at the top of his hip leading into the last game, but that was about a one-out-of-ten pain, and we thought that they were clinical signs."

"Everything through the doctors and the physios seemed perfectly okay. He bowled that first over (against GT) and started feeling something in his hip. But we had an MRI scan, and there is a very, very small swelling in there. So we are very hopeful he'll start building himself up and be back bowling again soon," Justin Langer had said.

Before his ouster, the Yadav grabbed 6 wickets in 2 games at an average of 9.0 and an economy of 6.0. His raw pace demolished the opposition batters in both games. Meanwhile, Yadav's absence from the last two games has cost Lucknow Super Giants.

The KL Rahul-led side lost both the games against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders. LSG will now face Chennai Super Kings in their next clash on Friday, April 19. However, Mayank Yadav’s chances to be part of the match look slim.
