Brilliant and Best Pacer! It would not be wrong to associate these words with Brett Lee. He is a former Australian pacer who has shattered the opposition bowlers with his pace attack for years and played a key role in driving the Aussies to ODI World Cups in 2003 and 2007.

Brett Lee is a right-arm pacer and one of the fastest to play for Australia. He represented Australian cricket from 1999 to 2012 and was a lethal pacer in all three formats.

Early and Personal Life 

Brett Lee was born in 1976 in New South Wales Australia to Bob and Helen Buxton. His father was a metallurgist and his mother was a piano teacher.

Interestingly, he also had two brothers Shane Lee and Grant Lee, who are former Australian cricketers. The Aussie pacer has two wives but his current wife is Lana Anderson, whom he married in 2014. He has a son named Preston.

Domestic Career 

Brett Lee trained under childhood coaches John Buchanan and Trevor Bayless and became a part of the Australian domestic circuit in the 1997 season.

He was part of New South Wales since the start of his cricket career in 1997 and played for the same domestic team till 2011. He also played for the Wellington team of New Zealand once.

International Career

Brett Lee made his international debut in a Test match against India in 1999. Later, he also made his ODI debut a few months later in January 2000. He faced Pakistan in the match. He also played in the shortest format.

During his career, Brett Lee featured in 76 Tests, 221 ODIs, and 25 T20Is. He grabbed 310 wickets in Tests and 380 in ODIs. He also clinched 28 wickets in T20Is. The Aussie pacer was known for his strict economy. For instance, he held an economy of 3.47 in Tests, 4.76 in ODIs, and 7.86 in T20Is.

Franchise Career

Brett Lee was quite active in franchise T20I leagues and was one of the most sought-after pacers. He played for the Sydney Sixers from 2011 to 2014.

The Aussie stalwart was also quite active in the Indian Premier League and played for Kings XI Punjab from 2008 to 2010. Later, he became a part of Kolkata Knight Riders from 2011 to 2013 and also won the title in the 2012 edition.

Legacy 

Brett Lee was a dangerous pacer for Australia in the early 2000s. The right-arm pacer shared the team with legends Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie, who dominated opposition teams in ODI World Cup 2003 and 2007. Lee is among the fastest pacer Australia has ever seen on the national side.
