The Australian shores last witnessed professional cricket back in March when they hosted their neighbours New Zealand in a One-day international. The match took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground behind closed doors due to the Coronavirus pandemic hovering. However, right after the first of the three games, which Australia won, the series was suspended amid fears of players succumbing to the virus.

Yet, a lot of clearances have to be in place before the tournament starts. Furthermore, it is not even confirmed whether the fixtures would take place within empty stadiums or the fans would get to witness live action from the stadium seats.

In March, alongside the Australia-New Zealand series, Cricket Australia also postponed their Sheffield Shield competition. New South Wales were crowned winners of the affair. The Australian Cricket Board is also one of the worst-affected due to the ongoing health crisis as it has laid out a lot of their staff. The board is hoping to leave no stone unturned in hosting India for the four-Test series later this year to prevent a loss of $300 million.
