Super 50 Cup: West Indies Batsmen Shai Hope, Kyle Hope Test Positive For Coronavirus

West Indies Batsmen Shai Hope and his brother Kyle Hope have tested positive for Coronavirus and have been ruled out of this year’s Super 50 cup starting on February 7. Also, Cricket West Indies(CWI) has announced the return of regional 50 over cricket which will take place between six major rivals to clash in nineteen 50 over matches. The schedule for the Super 50 cup was announced by the CWI in Antigua in February.

The first match of the Super 50 cup will be between the host Leeward Islands Hurricanes against the Windward Islands Volcanoes. The six teams will play against each other on a round-robin basis with the top four teams qualifying for the semifinals.

The winners of the semifinals will be taking on each other on the most important final to be played on February 27.

Shai and Kyle Hope Ruled Out From the Super 50 cup

Shai Hope and Kyle Hope were tested positive for coronavirus ahead of the exciting tournament and they have been ruled out of the regional 50 over Super cup. The two corona-infected players have also been placed in isolation according to the Barbados government protocols.

The Barbados Cricket Association has also announced the two replacements as the wicketkeeper/batsman Tevyn Walcott and top-order batsman Zachary McCaskie and both the batsman will be undergoing protocols and corona tests before they get into the team.

“The results were released following the first completed tests of the Barbados Pride squad and management on Sunday. Shai and Kyle Hope will be placed in isolation in accordance with Government of Barbados protocols,” a statement from Barbados Cricket Association read. The Barbados squad is scheduled to leave for Antigua on Sunday.

The Marquee 50 Over Event  Of West Indies

The Super 50 cup is termed as the marquee 50 over Event of West indies as the six rivals will be taking on each other. The six rivals who will be participating are Barbados Pride, Guyana Jaguars, Jamaica Scorpions, Leeward Islands Hurricanes, Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, and the Windward Islands Volcanoes. The Barbados Pride squad was announced with Jason Holder as the captain.

Shai Hope is one of the most established players of the modern era with an average of nearly 50 in the ODI format, and the Barbados Pride Squad will certainly miss him.
