SL vs PAK: Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 2nd Test Moved To Galle Due To The Political Unrest In Colombo

The second match of the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka National Cricket Team and Pakistan National Cricket Team has been shifted to Galle due to the political unrest in Colombo.

In the Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka in 2022, the teams will be playing a two-match Test series and the series will form a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2021–2023 cycle.

Originally, the Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka 2022 was going to have a three-match ODI series along with a two-match Test series. However, the ODI games were cancelled in May 2022 as they were not part of the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

Meanwhile, the first Test match of the series is being played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium in Galle. The match began on July 16 and it will end on July 20.

Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 2nd Test Moved From Colombo

The second Test match of the two-match Test series was set to be played from July 24 to 28 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.

However, due to the political unrest in Colombo, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has decided that the second match will also be held in Galle.

Also, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have agreed to the change of venues, said that Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary Mohan de Silva.

Pakistan last toured Sri Lanka in 2015 and a three-match Test series, a five-match ODI series and a two-match T20I series were played on that tour. Pakistan had dominated throughout the tour and they had won the Test series by 2-1, the ODI series by 3-2 and the two-match T20I series by 2-0.

Recently, Sri Lanka successfully hosted Australia for an all-format tour without any security breach, winning the ODI series and managing to draw the Test series while losing the T20I series.
