IND vs SA: “It Baffles Me” – Dodda Ganesh On Non-selection Of Prithvi Shaw And Sarfaraz Khan In India's Squad For South Africa ODIs

Former India National Cricket Team player Dodda Ganesh, who played 4 Tests and 1 ODI in his career, is baffled to see the non-selection of dynamic opener Prithvi Shaw and man-in-red-hot-form Sarfaraz Khan in India’s second-string ODI squad for the home series against South Africa National Cricket Team.

On Sunday, October 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the South Africa National Cricket Team. The ODI games of the series between India and South Africa are scheduled to be played in Ranchi, Lucknow and Delhi on October 6, October 9 and October 11.

Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the skipper of the side for the South Africa ODIs and Shreyas Iyer, who leads Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, has been named as the vice-captain.

Also, Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar and Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar have earned their maiden India call-ups for the ODI series against South Africa in the absence of several seniors from the squad.

Former India National Cricket Team player Ganesh took to Twitter to express his disappointment over the non-selection of youngsters – Shaw and Sarfaraz. He said that the players don’t get selected in the Indian squad despite performing well in domestic cricket if they don’t do well in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan being ignored even in the second string Indian ODI side slated to take on SA, baffles me. Scoring mountains of runs at the FC level and get no returns: Tale of every player who hasn’t necessarily had great IPL #DoddaMathu #CricketTwitter,” he tweeted.

The 24-year-old Sarfaraz, who has established himself as one of the domestic cricket giants with his back-to-back exceptional performances, has not yet played for the India National Cricket Team.

On the other hand, explosive opener Shaw had already played 6 ODIs, 5 Tests and 1 T20I for the India National Cricket Team.
