IND vs SA: Dinesh Karthik Delighted To See Rajat Patidar, Mukesh Kumar Get Maiden India Call-ups For South Africa ODIs

The 37-year-old India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik is delighted to see the inclusion of Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar and Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar in the India squad for the ODI series against South Africa.

On Sunday, October 2, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad of the India National Cricket Team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the South Africa National Cricket Team.

Patidar and Mukesh got their maiden India call-ups for the ODI series against South Africa after their consistent performances in the domestic circuit for quite some time now.

On Monday, October 3, the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Karthik took to Twitter to state that Patidar deserved the India call-up and congratulated Mukesh for his selection in the Indian team.

“So happy to see Rajat patidar there, so deserves this selection. Well done to Mukesh Kumar too,” veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik tweeted.

Notably, the Madhya Pradesh batter Patidar played with Karthik at the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. So far, he has played 12 IPL games and has scored 404 runs at an average of 40.4 and a strike rate of 144.3.

Talking about Mukesh, he has bagged 109 first-class wickets in just 30 games at an amazing economy of 2.75 and an average of 22.5.

The 37-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Karthik also called for the inclusion of the man-in-red-hot-form Sarfaraz Khan and Baba Indrajith in the scheme of things in Test cricket after their consistent performances in Ranji Trophy for their respective teams.

“Now Sarfaraz Khan and Indrajith baba into the test scheme of things . Can’t ignore such brilliant performers and performances. Theyve just been phenomenal TALENT APLENTY,” Karthik tweeted.

Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the skipper of the side for the South Africa ODIs and Shreyas Iyer, who leads Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, has been named as Dhawan’s deputy.

The ODI games of the series between India and South Africa are scheduled to be played in Ranchi, Lucknow and Delhi on October 6, October 9 and October 11.
