Punjab Kings pace bowler Arshdeep Singh said he is looking forward to play for the Indian national team in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa.

Arshdeep was the only player IPL franchise Punjab Kings retained along with skipper Mayank Agarwal in the IPL 2022 players’ retention list.

The left-arm seamer has left with the impression of bowling well in the slog overs (16-20) in the IPL and deny opposition batters to play big shots.

In IPL 2022, Arshdeep picked four wickets in the death overs at an economy rate of 7.58.

Overall, the PBKS pace bowler scalped 10 wickets in 14 games at economy rate of 7.70 with best figures 3/37 against Delhi Capitals.

You need to have a knack for learning: Arshdeep Singh

The Punjab player went down memory lane watching father Darshan Singh play cricket and showed interest in playing thereafter. Arshdeep also mentioned about learning pace bowling while observing some of the best players in the business.

My father used to play cricket. I started playing the game because of him. Later on, I started to keenly observe left-arm seamers and tried to learn their best traits to improve my game. You need to have a knack of learning, no matter if it is a youngster or a senior player. I try to learn from everyone,” the 23-year-old mentioned.

India will play Temba Bavuma and his men in the first T20 International on June 9 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
