IND vs SA: Now He Hits Boundaries When He Wants To - Dale Steyn Keen On Knowing What Technical Change David Miller Made

Former South African pacer Dale Steyn was quite impressed with David Miller’s knock in the first T20I against India in New Delhi on Thursday.

Miller scored a 31-ball 64 in South Africa’s run chase of 212 which helped them get off to a winning start in the 5-match long series. His resurgence of late has been the talk of the town, with his father recently stating that there were technical changes made that are on display now.

“I think it’s confidence. He’s always had that six-hitting ability. I can’t see any difference technically. Maybe I’ll have to give his dad a call and find out what technical difference he’s made.”

“Now, he seems to be hitting boundaries when he wants to. If he feels under pressure, he can hit the ball for six. Every time he hits a six, he genuinely hits the ball a long way,” Steyn said in a chat with ESPNcricinfo.

Miller had his best-ever IPL season recently playing for debutantes, Gujarat Titans. He scored 481 runs in 15 matches and the 32-year-old has taken the momentum from the league into the ongoing T20I series.

“Since then, he’s just been on this upward curve. Got the nod with the (Gujarat) Titans. Hardik Pandya gave him the freedom to express himself with the bat. It just seems like he’s gotten better and better.”

“He put on the South African jersey today (Thursday) and just continued from where he left off at the IPL. He’s been phenomenal,” he further mentioned.

The Proteas were in trouble when Miller walked to the crease but he ended up stitching a match-winning unbeaten 131-run partnership with Rassie van der Dussen to take them home.
