Indian Premier League 2019 (IPL)

The 2019 Indian Premier League or IPL 2019 was the twelfth edition of the tournament. The 2019 IPL was played entirely in India despite the General Elections. In the past, the competition was played outside India due to the elections. IPL 2019 got underway on 23 March while the final took place on 12 May. A total of eight teams participated in the tournament.

Chennai Super Kings began the tournament as the defending champions. They made it to the final once again before losing to Mumbai Indians by just 1 run. It was Chennai Super Kings' third loss against Mumbai Indians in an IPL final.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's David Warner won the Orange Cap for the leading run-scorer of the tournament after scoring 692 runs. Chennai Super Kings' Imran Tahir won the Purple Cap for being the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2019. He picked up 26 wickets. Andre Russell of Kolkata Knight Riders was named the Most Valuable Player while Shubman Gill of Kolkata Knight Riders was named the Emerging Player of the Tournament.

Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad qualified for the playoffs. Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi finished the league stage with 9 wins each and were separated by net run-rate. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad won 6 games.
