Ajit Agarkar, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan Among Rumoured Names To Be Part Of BCCI's Selection Panel Candidates' List – Reports

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to pick a new men’s selection committee and the likes of Ajit Agarkar and Laxman Sivaramakrishnan are among the rumored names to be part of the candidates’ list, according to a MyKhel report.

On Friday, November 18, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to sack the entire senior men’s selection committee, which was led by Chetan Sharma.

The BCCI issued an official statement, inviting applications for the position of the five men’s national selectors. Also, the deadline for the submission of the applications is November 28. The BCCI also informed about the qualification criteria for the applications to be considered.

“Should have played a minimum of a) 7 Test matches; OR b) 30 First Class matches; OR c) 10 ODI and 20 First Class matches.

“Should have retired from the game at least 5 years ago. No person who has been a member of any Cricket Committee (as defined in the rules and regulations of BCCI) for a total of 5 years shall be eligible to be a member of the Men’s Selection Committee,” BCCI said in an official media release.

Ajit Agarkar Could Apply For Post From The West Zone – Reports

Former India National Cricket Team pacer Ajit Agarkar, who has played all three formats for the Men In Blue and the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL), could apply for the post from the West Zone. Also, it has been rumored that even the BCCI is interested to have him on board, as per the same report.

Salil Ankola is also looked at as a contender from the West Zone and he is even a close confidant of the newly-elected BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar.

Meanwhile, former India National Cricket Team spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan could apply for the post from South Zone. The newly-elected BCCI president Roger Binny could also be asked about his preference while picking a selector from South Zone.

Talking about the remaining zones, Shib Sundar Dar could apply for the post from the East Zone and the BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla could be asked about his preference while picking selectors from Central Zone and North Zone.
