Gujarat Titans' South African explosive batsman David Miller has joined forces with Indian captain Rohit Sharma in asking the IPL authorities to abolish the Impact player rule. Miller has said the same thing that Rohit said a couple of weeks ago during his appearance in the Club Prairie Fire podcast with Adam Gilchrist and others.

The main problem arising against the Impact Player substitution is that it is demolishing the role of all-rounders in the game. The Impact player rule, which was introduced last season after its success in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2023 season, was at first favored as a true game changer.

It was said that the rule will forever change the way cricket is being played in the modern era and that it will add much more excitement to the dynamics. But by the second season of its implementation, Indian Premier League veterans are finding the flaws in it and asking the BCCI to get rid of it.

David Miller agrees to Rohit Sharma's statement against Impact player sub

While speaking to press reporters at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi ahead of Gujarat's reverse fixture against Delhi Capitals, David Miller agreed with Rohit Sharma's statement. The former Mumbai Indians captain had stated that he was not a big fan of the rule and that it was better before when it used to be an 11 V 11 affair instead of a 12 V 12. Rohit had also expressed his worry about the diminishing role of the all-rounders.

The Indian captain had named Washington Sundar and Shivam Dube as the two all-rounders being the most affected by the Impact player rule. Both Sundar and Dube have got lesser chances to bowl, which Rohit had said, is not good for anyone in the longer run.

When David Miller was asked to give his opinion on the same, he said that he is not a big fan of it either and that sticking to the 11 V 11 contest would be nicer.

"Everyone has got their opinions about it but for me, I am not a massive fan of the rule. The game of cricket has 11 players and it would be nice to stick to that. Rohit said that international cricket is not like that and I feel it's better to keep it the same as international cricket." - Miller told reporters in New Delhi.

Miller says a few games on the trot will help GT remain relevant for play-offs

Tonight's encounter between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals is going to be an important one for both teams for their playoff hopes. While GT is 6th in the table with 4 wins to their name, DC is in 8th with just 3 wins to their name.

In the previous fixture between them at the Narendra Modi stadium, Delhi had got the better of Gujarat but this time around, Shubman Gill's side will be determined for the win.

David Miller, in the same press conference, admitted that GT did lose a few close games that should have been won but he believes that if the Titans win a few on the trot, then they will be in contention.

"As a team, there have been some close games that we won and also one or two close games that we lost. I think it's just about getting back to basics, feeding off each other, getting good partnerships. We just need a little bit more fight. We win the next few games and we are really in the mix, so it's very important. - Miller concluded.
