"I've Always Found Chris Gayle And Kl Rahul Very Hard To Bowl To" - Trent Boult On The Toughest Batters He Faced

New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult, arguably one of the best fast bowlers in modern cricket, has revealed the toughest batters he has faced in T20 cricket. The left-arm seamer has been instrumental in New Zealand’s recent success, reaching three World Cup finals and winning the World Test Championship final in 2021 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

Trent Boult chose to opt out of his central contract with New Zealand to play more franchise cricket. The 33-year-old played a key role for the MI Emirates in the inaugural United Arab Emirates International League T20. The MI Indians’ sister franchise reached the playoff round of the tournament before losing to the Gujarat Giants in the eliminator match.

Trent Boult told the Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview that he found it difficult to bowl against Indian opener KL Rahul and former West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle.

“That’s a tricky question. There are so many batters. I’ve always found (Chris) Gayle very hard to bowl to, I’ve found KL Rahul very hard to bowl to. Polly (Pollard) would be up there as well. T20 cricket is one of those games where guys are out there trying to express themselves, take the game on, no fear. Pretty exciting product, really,” Boult said.

The Quality Is There Among All Six Sides – Trent Boult

Boult said he enjoyed coming into the tournament not knowing what his role would be. He said the standard of cricket was exceptional, with plenty of talent and quality in all six teams.

“That’s the challenge you want. You come to the tournament not knowing what to expect. The standards of cricket is exceptional. There’s been some great performances. The quality is there among all six sides. Teams are stacked with lots of talent,” he added.

Boult will not be part of New Zealand’s Test squad against England at home. He was not considered for selection as the team management preferred players who were under contract and playing domestic cricket.
