Jasprit Bumrah Is Outstanding Bowler With Great Control, But Isn't Threatening – Ex-Pakistan Captain Salman Butt

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Salman Butt has said that the premier speedster of the India National Cricket Team, Jasprit Bumrah, is an outstanding fast bowler, but he lacks the pace that would threaten a batter.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Salman Butt said that the express pace has vanished from world cricket and currently there are very few pacers, who can bowl the deliveries consistently at 150kph like Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami and Mitchell Johnson used to do.

While talking about the star pacer Bumrah, Butt said that the 28-year-old has got excellent control over his yorkers and slower ones, but he isn’t a threatening bowler.

“There is no threatening pace. Even in world cricket, you won’t find many bowlers with threatening pace. Who bowls at 150kph at the moment like Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammed Sami and Mitchell Johnson used to do?” said Butt on his YouTube channel.

“Express pace has vanished now. Bumrah is an outstanding bowler with great control on his yorkers and slower ones but isn’t threatening,” he added.

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team captain further said that the Pakistan National Cricket Team have got fast bowlers like Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain, who have the ability to bowl the deliveries at 150 kph, but they can’t do it on a regular basis.

Salman Butt said that South African express pacer Anrich Nortje bowls at a rapid pace occasionally and Australian Mitchell Starc no longer bowls consistently at over 150 kph. The 37-year-old added that in recent cricket history only England’s Jofra Archer, who has been out of action for a very long period of time due to injury issues, has looked threatening.

“For Pakistan, Haris and Hasnain touch 150 but neither of the two does it consistently. Nortje bowls at a rapid pace in one occasional game but isn’t threatening like the bowlers we have seen in past.”

“In the recent cricket history, Jofra Archer is the only bowler to have threatened a bit. We are lacking threatening pace in world cricket currently. Even Mitchell (Starc) doesn’t bowl consistently beyond 150,” he added.
