The SL vs AFG second ODI will be played at the Pallekele Stadium on November 27. Afghanistan won the first ODI by 60 runs to chock the Lankans. It was their second win over their opponents in the ODI format. The last game on November 30 will also be played in Pallekele. 

The tour was initially scheduled to be played in February 2023 but was preponed on mutual agreement of both the boards. The Afghanistan National Team arrived in Sri Lanka on November 22.

Afghanistan racked up 294/8 with the bat on the back of Ibrahim Zardan’s second ODI ton in the first SL vs AFG ODI. There were contributions from Rahmanullah Gurbaz (53), Rahmat Shah (52), Najibullah Zadran (42), and Gulbadin Naib (22).

Fazalhaq Farooqi’s four-wicket spell then doomed Sri Lanka as they were bowled out for 234 runs. This was a memorable win for Afghanistan and that too against one of the Test-playing nations. 

Both teams played a lot recently against each other in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. Afghanistan defeated the Lankans in the group stage of the Asia Cup but lost out in the Super 4 stage. Sri Lanka were the eventual winner of the Asia Cup 2022. The SL vs AFG series is a part of the Cricket World Cup Super League 2023.

The SL vs AFG second ODI starts at 2.30 pm local time. There is an 80 percent chance of rain predicted on the matchday along with thunderstorms. The temperature will be around 30 degrees with a strong breeze blowing as well. 

As far as the pitch is concerned, 34 ODIs have been played previously at the venue. 19 matches have been won by the teams batting second while 15 batting first. Spin will play a part in these games as well dew given that they are afternoon games. If the weather stays clear we can have another high-scoring SL vs AGF game.
