Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat are locking horns against each other in the sixth match of the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) 2023/24. While Brisbane Heat are playing their third game of the competition, Sydney Thunder are playing their first.

The Brisbane-based outfit began their campaign with a huge 103-run win over Glenn Maxwell-led Melbourne Stars. Their second game of the season was against Adelaide Strikers and it was abandoned without toss. Brisbane Heat will be looking to extend their winning start while Sydney Thunder will be keen to begin their campaign with a win.

Just before the game, an unexpected event took place during the bat flip. The traditional coin toss was replaced with the bat flip in the Big Bash League in 2018. As a result, the captains now face a decision between ‘hills’ and ‘flats’ instead of ‘heads’ and /tails’.

Talking about the incident, the bat flip was done by a fan. And when he threw the bat in the air, it landed on its edge rather than landing on either of the faces. He had to do the bat flip again and it went in favour of Sydney Thunder who decided to bowl first.
