Gujarat Titans openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, on Friday (May 10), blew Chennai Super Kings away by scoring blazing centuries in the ongoing game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

CSK's decision to bowl first turned out to be a nightmare as Gill and Sudharsan came all out all guns blazing. With not much to lose as their playoff chances are all but ended, the GT stars played with freedom and went on to score centuries. 

At the end of the powerplay, GT raced away to 58 for no loss with Gill on 29 and Sudharsan on 28. They brought up their 100-run stand in the tenth over. Sudharsan completed his fifty in the ninth over while Gill reached the milestone in the 11th over.

Both the batters matched each other shot for shot as they sent the CSK bowlers on a leather hunt. Gill was the first to complete his century, reaching the triple-digit mark in the 17th over off 50 balls. On the final ball of the same over, Sudharsan hit Simarjeet Singh for a six to reach his century in style in 50 balls.

As both Gill and Sudharsan scored centuries, the cricketing fraternity was quick to shower praise on them. Here are some of the reactions to their centuries.

 

A record-breaking century:

Talking about the game, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan shared a record stand of 210 runs before both of them were dismissed in quick succession in the 18th over. Both the GT openers were dismissed by Tushar Deshpande.

The right-arm pacer dismissed Sudharsan first. The southpaw departed after scoring 103 runs off 51 balls with the help of five fours and seven sixes. On the other hand, Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 104 runs off 55 balls with the help of nine fours and six sixes. At the time of writing this report, GT were on 219 for 2 after 19 overs.
