Babar Azam's struggles in England continued as the Pakistan captain was dismissed for another single-digit score during the third Test against England at Edgbaston. Babar managed only seven runs from 18 deliveries before Josh Tongue produced a brilliant delivery to knock over his off stump.
The dismissal came in the 15th over of Pakistan's innings, leaving the visitors five wickets down for 48 runs. Babar had already endured a difficult second Test at Lord's, scoring eight and six in Pakistan's heavy defeat, and his latest failure means he has managed just 21 runs across his first three innings of the series.
Babar Azam dismissed for another low score against England
Babar Azam walked in with Pakistan already in trouble after England's bowlers made early inroads at Edgbaston. However, the Pakistan captain could not provide the stability his team needed and departed for another low score.
Babar's latest innings lasted 18 balls and produced only one boundary. He was eventually dismissed by Josh Tongue at 14.6 overs, with the England pacer finding the perfect length and movement off the seam.
The delivery was bowled around 88 mph (141 kph) and jagged back into Babar after pitching. The Pakistan batter remained rooted to his crease instead of getting forward, allowing the ball to sneak underneath his bat and crash into the top of off stump.
Babar's dismissal extended a difficult start to the Test series with the bat. He scored eight in the first innings and six in the second at Lord's before managing only seven in the first innings at Birmingham. He has therefore scored 21 runs in three innings so far.
The failure also came at a particularly difficult stage for Pakistan, who were reduced to 48/5 after just 15 overs.

Babar Azam addresses Pakistan’s chaotic week before Edgbaston Test
Before the start of the third Test, Babar Azam was asked about Pakistan's turbulent week, which included several changes to the squad and coaching setup. The captain played down the difficulty of handling the situation and said the changes could provide opportunities to new players.
“Not difficult. Yes, after that we had a couple of changes, but I think a good opportunity to new boys, and yes we are trying to do our best in this match.”
Babar Azam also explained that the team had tried to stay away from the off-field noise and focus on preparing for the Test in Birmingham.
“Look, outside noise is not under (our) control. We are just trying to prepare for this match and just think and look after ourselves in the group, and we just talk about, we are not thinking (about) outside noises. We are just trying to do our best in this match.”
On Mike Hesson joining Pakistan's coaching setup, Babar welcomed the experience the former New Zealand coach brings.
“Yes, (it) help a lot. He is an experienced coach, he has a lot of knowledge, so yes we have him as the white-ball coach also. So yes we have a good communication.”
Asked about his own batting form after two low scores at Lord's, Babar had backed himself to turn things around at Edgbaston. However, Tongue's delivery ended his innings early and added another disappointing chapter to his ongoing struggles in England.
