Preview:

Star-studded Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars will lock horns in their season-opener which is tipped to being explosive, with both sides keen to kick off their campaign on a strong note. The last season holds bitter-sweet memories for both the sides as both made it to the semifinals before losing their respective games. The Heat led the competition for much of last season, before finishing second in the regular season and losing a thrilling semi-final to the Sydney Sixers.

On the other hand, the Melbourne-based outfit qualified for the final four for the sixth year running but proved to be no match for eventual winners Perth Scorchers in. With the season of both the sides ending on a disappointing note, they would be desperate to seek a fresh start in a new season. But while the star-power of both the sides suggest an exciting game is on the cards, history is in Heat’s favour.

The Brisbane-based franchise has earned the bragging rights of the fixture, having won four of the past five games. But at the same time, Brendon McCullum & Co. will be well aware of the fact the team boasting the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa can prove the history wrong in no time.
