Russel Arnold, India, England

The former cricketer of Sri Lanka, Russel Arnold took an indirect dig on Team India. Russel who now works as a commentator took micro-blogging website Twitter to post about ongoing Test match between England and India while reminiscing about the Lord’s drawn Test when Sri Lanka faced the Three Lions.

India at Lord’s:

India is on the brink to face an embarrassing defeat after displaying a poor show while batting first. Arnold in his latest Tweet talked about the last tour of Sri Lanka to England.

In his Tweet, he hinted that unlike India, Sri Lanka managed to get a draw in England.

The  tweet of Russel Arnold read: “The last time Sri Lanka played a test at Lords … it was a draw — just saying”.

After winning the toss, India could only amass 107. Due to the complete washout on Day one following the heavy downpour, English bowlers used the overcast conditions and surface to rattle the visitors.

Rain, Rain and More Rain…

Due to rain halts, the Indian team could manage to survive throughout the day. Ravichandran Ashwin was the top scorer for India who got 29.

Besides him, only skipper Virat Kohli could cross the twenty-run barrier. The batting mainstay is the second top scorer with 23. From the bowling point of View, it was James Anderson who got his 22nd five-for of Test cricket.

Indian bowlers helped India to get a chance in the match by removing both the English openers in quick succession. With the fall of Ollie Pope and Joe Root, Men in Blue created an outside chance to put pressure back on the opposition. But it proved to be a passing shower.

However, the partnership between Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler set the tone for a high score. Bairstow, however, missed his well-deserved century by just seven runs.

However, Chris Woakes, who replaced Ben Stokes in the second Test did not miss a one as he scored his maiden unbeaten ton in Test cricket. He remained not out on 137 as England declared on 396 for the loss of seven wickets. India though trailed by 289 runs in the second innings.

Twitter reactions:

Also, the Tweet from Russel Arnold didn’t go well as Twitterati ridiculed his bizarre comparison.
