India vs Windies 2018: 1st T20I - Fans Troll KL Rahul for his Poor Fielding in Kolkata
Updated - 08 Nov 2023, 12:24 PM
Team India cricketer, KL Rahul was at the receiving end of all the trolls after his poor effort on the field during the first T20I game against the Windies in Kolkata.
Meanwhile, the Men in Blues restricted the visitors to 109 for eight at the end of 20th over. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers who bagged three wickets giving away only 14 runs. He rattled the middle order dismissing Darren Bravo, Rovman Powell, and Windies skipper, Carlos Brathwaite.
Although India impressed with the ball, their fielding was not upto the mark. KL Rahul made some embarrassing mistakes on the field. In the fourth over of the Windies innings, Shai Hope tried to flick Khaleel Ahmed off the backfoot. Meanwhile, Hope decided to steal a single but managed to hit it straight to Rahul at the short mid-wicket.
At first, he tried to take a single and then stopped in the mid-way and then set off again. There was some confusion between Hope and Shimron Hetmyer which resulted in Hetmyer and him getting stranded at the non-striker’s end. Meanwhile, KL Rahul had the simplest of jobs of grabbing the ball and throw it back to the wicket-keeper, Dinesh Karthik.
However, he shockingly threw the ball over Kathiks’s head, but it was lucky for India that Manish Pandey was standing behind Karthik and he managed to take the bails off, much to the relief of KL Rahul.
Fans took it to Twitter, as they were not happy with the effort of KL Rahul and took out their anger by mocking him:

KL Rahul has been awful in the field today, first that pathetic throw which almost missed the chance of a run out and now this dropped high catch at the boundary. He needs to work on his fielding. #INDvWI

KL Rahul is so much better than how he played today. That god awful throw to run Shai Hope out, a drop catch and his poor batting form just doesn’t seem to end. Not the best number three option, maybe.
Hope to see him comeback strong! #INDvsWI— हर्ष जैन (@JaiinSahab) November 4, 2018
KL Rahul trying hard on field to make sure that he will get to bat today.#INDvWI

Horrible throw by KL Rahul, who shows absolute lack of poise. Brilliant awareness by Manish Pandey to grab the throw after it went over keeper Karthik's head. #INDvWI
