We have witnessed some spectacular performances in the first decade of the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL) and this time around after the major overhauling of the professional domestic T20 competition is expected to set the fate of youngsters in the VIVO IPL 2018 like the tenth edition witnessed the picking of Mohammed Siraj.

In the past, the seam bowlers have set the stage on fire with batters putting up a strong show – to see teams chasing down the daunting totals in the enterprising league and the final of the tenth edition was the thriller.

Moreover, the acrobatic stuff on the field had entertained the crowd, as hat-tricks from the professionals have been a delight in its way in the competition which has witnessed the runs galore owing to the batting prowess.

The six-hitting machine for the KFC Big Bash League franchise Hobart Hurricanes, D’Arcy Short has been having a phenomenal 2017-18 season with the bat which saw him smashing 22 maximums so far.

For the seventh edition of the BBL, the explosive batsman Short has featured in nine games so far in which he scored 504 runs at the staggering average of 63. He faced 340 deliveries to score at the strike-rate of 148.24. He has a solitary hundred (122) under his belt and three fifties.

Interestingly, known for hitting for the ball long and high, Short smashed 22 hundreds and 47 boundaries to impress the bidders, and he is expected to be brought for the significantly less amount to make the IPL debut.

The uncapped batting all-rounder, Short has kept his base price of INR 20 lakh.

Chris Woakes – INR 2 crore

While considering the all-round abilities, England’s fast bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes who made his entry in the tenth edition of the IPL in 2017 has grabbed the headlines.

He was phenomenal with the white-ball for Kolkata Knight Riders which saw him bagging 17 wickets in 264 balls in 13 games at the average of 22.70.

The 28-year-old Birmingham born Woakes has been among runs for the national side, as the latest example has been his unbeaten 53 in the ongoing Gillette five-match One-day International series on the Australian soil.

Woakes might have set his prize in the fast-paced tournament, but his appearance saw him bagging INR 4.2 crore. The crucial breakthroughs have always played a massive role, and Woakes has been that sort of a bowler who did it for his side before trying to contribute with the bat.

In 102 T20 fixtures, Woakes bagged 109 wickets at an average of 24.77 which further saw him smashing 708 runs in 63 innings.

Karun Nair – INR 50 lakh

In the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Karun Nair has sent a message to the bidders for the IPL Auction 2018 after smashing century in 51 deliveries. His breezy innings included seven sixes and eight boundaries in scoring at the strike-rate of 192.31 while representing his state-side Karnataka.

The timely reminder has further put the right-handed batsman on the radar for the auction following his latest show in the domestic fixture. Between 2012 and 2013, Nair had represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Nair had further feature for the Rajasthan Royals in 2014 and 2015 before featuring for Delhi Daredevils in 2016 and 2017. Nair, who’s in tremendous form is highly likely going to be an interesting buy regarding a bargain.

Manan Vohra – INR 20 lakh

The 25-year-old promising batsman, Manan Vohra was an integral part of the Indian Premier League franchise Kings XI Punjab, and he would be aiming to give his best in the upcoming competition.

Since making his debut in 2013, the right-handed batsman played 45 IPL fixtures in which he scored 957 runs with the highest score of 95 and would be aiming to give his best.

On the other side, the IPL outfit Punjab would be eyeing to make use of the Right to Match (RTMs) and Vohra is highly expected to be among the top contenders.

For Punjab in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vohra has been among runs to set his eye on the widely-acclaimed league.

Mayank Agarwal – INR 20 lakh

The right-handed batsman Mayank Agarwal has been in rich form to impress the selectors which further saw him piling up runs in the recently concluded domestic Ranji Trophy 2017-18 season.

The 26-year-old Bangalore-based Agarwal was the top-scorer of the premium competition. In eight match of the Ranji Trophy for Karnataka, Agarwal smashed 1,160 runs at an average of 104.45. He registered five hundreds and two fifties. Moreover, Agarwal smashed 130 boundaries and 14 sixes.

However, so far in the T20 competition, Agarwal might have struggled in between, but he went on to register two fifties in seven games until now with the best of 86 against Kerala in Vizianagaram on January 14.

Agarwal is expected to get picked on the modest price for the upcoming edition.
