Zaheer Khan Set For Commentary Stint During IPL 2018

The absence of Zaheer Khan’s name from the list of 578 players up for auction was a surprise as he did not announce his retirement from IPL. In fact, he wanted to play IPL for a couple of more years, one of the reasons behind him not taking up the role of bowling advisor of Indian cricket team.

However, now, as per a report in mid-day, the former India pacer is all set to do commentary during IPL instead of playing. It was assumed that Zaheer might take up the coaching role with one or the other franchises, but he has surprised by opting to take up commentary.

This will not be the first stint for Zaheer as a commentator as earlier as well; he has done commentary. He was one of the commentators during the home season of Indian cricket team in 2017. Before that, he was also there in Sri Lanka and West Indies last year when the team travelled there.

Zaheer played for Delhi Daredevils in the previous season of IPL and was a player cum mentor for the franchise, who do not have any fast bowling coach. The franchise had recently appointed Ricky Ponting as their Head Coach.

Meanwhile, the upcoming season of IPL is all set to start on April 7 with the first game to be played in Mumbai. The auction for the upcoming season will take place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore where a total of 578 players will be up for grab.

In the latest news related to Delhi Daredevils, they are looking forward to playing few of their home games at the Ekana International Stadium in Lucknow. However, nothing has been confirmed as of now. If they decide to make Ekana stadium their second home, then this stadium will be the third stadium where this franchise would be playing its home games. Earlier, DD have also played few of hames at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Chhattisgarh.
