Former India cricketer, Aakash Chopra has pointed out some major concerns in the Delhi Capitals (DC) side ahead of their clash with Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 1 on Thursday in Dubai.

Delhi Capitals secured the second spot in the points table after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets and booked the Qualifier against table toppers, Mumbai Indians. However, the Capitals before their victory over Bangalore were on a four-match losing streak and had plenty of flaws exposed to other teams.

These are the two biggest concerns: Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, talked about the flaws in the Delhi team, particularly in the batting department. The former opener said that some players are out of form. He is concerned about Prithvi Shaw, who is averaging 19 this season and hasn’t scored more than 10 runs in any of his last six innings. Chopra said that show is playing his high-risk shots and is getting dismissed more often.

He opined on Rishabh Pant’s form and said that the left-hander hasn’t been at his destructive self. Chopra said that skipper, Shreyas Iyer needs to remain till the end and not throw away his wicket after getting a start.

In his YouTube video, Aakash Chopra said, “The weakness is that some of the players have had a slight dip in form in the last little while. I am a little worried about Prithvi Shaw that he goes on playing his shots and plays a high-risk game, doesn’t bother about getting out but he is getting out more often.”

“Rishabh Pant hasn’t really looked himself. So these are the two biggest concerns. Shreyas Iyer has scored more than 400 runs. But the impact knocks from him have been far and few between. So I am expecting more as the standards are high for him.”

The 43-year-old is worried about Ravichandran Ashwin, who limped off the field after bowling his overs against RCB. If Ashwin’s hamstring injury is severe, then it will be a big blow to DC as in the absence of Amit Mishra, the off-spinner had bowled brilliantly and is the seniormost bowler in the line-up.

“The other concern they have is that Ashwin did not field in the last match after bowling his 4 overs. He is having a slight issue with his hamstring. If he is injured, then the situation will change slightly as they will have to make changes to the team, so that will be a big problem,” Chopra added.
