Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav has been the unluckiest player in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The fast bowler set the stage on fire early on in the season and since then nothing has gone their way in the tournament.

Mayank Yadav made everyone go gaga about his fiery bowling in the IPL 2024. The fast bowler in the game against Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru wreaked havoc and won two players of the matches in the first two games that he played.

However, in his third game against Gujarat Titans got injured and walked off the field. The fast bowler faced a side strain issue and after that missed a lot of games. He then returned to the playing 11 after a long injury lay-off against Mumbai Indians recently and yet again suffered an injury.

Mayank Yadav in the 19th over of the game walked off the field as he yet again felt discomfort in the side. There were various reports which claimed that the fast bowler's injury is looking serious and he is likely to miss the remaining part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer admitted that it will be difficult for Mayank Yadav to play in the IPL but he is hopeful about the pacer playing in the playoffs. He revealed that the fast bowler got a small tear and touted his injury as unfortunate. He stated:

"No, we'll be praying that he can play, hopefully, in the playoffs, but I'm a realist as well. It'll be probably difficult for him to get up for the back end of the tournament. He's had a scan. He's got a small tear in a similar area to where his last one was. So it's very unfortunate."

Justin Langer stressed on the fact that fast bowlers are prone to injury and admitted that when Jasprit Bumrah talked to the pacer, the Mumbai Indians pacer also told him about the same. He added:

"We saw the impact he had when he came back into the game. But we can all sleep. There will always be a lot of discussion about fast bowlers, and I know he spoke to [Jasprit] Bumrah after the game and he reassured him that if he's going to be a fast bowler, part of his journey as a young fast bowler, he's going to get injuries."

So it's very sad for him and it's disappointing for LSG - Justin Langer on Mayank Yadav's injury

Justin Langer further claimed that Mayank Yadav's rehabilitation has been on track and stated that the fast bowler has huge potential. The head coach revealed that the fast bowler went into the game against Mumbai Indians pain-free and it was unfortunate that he suffered another injury. He added:

"So in my experience, every young fast bowler, probably until they get to 25 or 26, is going to experience different injuries. And it's the most unfortunate. He's got huge potential. But his rehabilitation was excellent.

"He went into the game [against MI], had a couple of bowls before the game. He was completely pain-free. So it's very sad for him and it's disappointing for LSG as well that he might [not[ play the rest of the tournament," he concluded.
