Virat Kohli, on Saturday (May 4), came to the on-field umpire's rescue and reminded him to signal a wide during the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

The incident took place in the seventh over when Vijaykumar Vyshak was bowling to David Miller. For the fourth ball of the over, the pacer bowled one down the leg side. Miller tried to play it on the onside but failed to make any good contact. The ball passed very close to the gloves before wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik caught it.

The RCB players went up in unison, appealing for a caught behind. However, the umpire gave his decision in the favour of the batsman. RCB were convinced that Miller had edged the ball and reviewed the umpire's decision.

The replays, however, showed that the on-field umpire was correct and the ball had not made any contact with the bat or the gloves before being caught by Karthik. And as the umpire signaled not out, Virat Kohli reminded him to signal the wide as well. The former RCB skipper stood near Karthik with both of his arms extended to remind the umpire about the wide.

Talking about the game, RCB bowlers came up with a fine display to bowl out GT for 147 after their skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl first. At one stage, GT were reeling at 19 for 3 before Miller and Shahrukh Khan steadied the ship with a 61-run stand.

Both the batters then departed in quick succession to leave their team five down for 87 in the 13th over. Rahul Tewati's 35-run knock and useful cameos from the lower-order batters helped GT cross the 140-run mark. For RCB, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Vijaykumar picked up two wickets each.
