MS Dhoni Told Me In Advance Kamran Akmal Would Get Bowled: RP Singh

MS Dhoni is a cricketing genius. He had brilliant reading of the game and could guide the bowlers to the best of their abilities. Dhoni has guided spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav in the recent but earlier former India fast bowler RP Singh has also benefited through his reading of the game.
RP Singh recalled how MS Dhoni told him that Kamran Akmal would get bowled due to his lack of footwoork during the India-Pakistan contest in 2007 T20 World Cup. Dhoni also asked RP Singh to concentrate on his line and length which made him realise the tremendous reading ability that the former India captain possess.
“For me, it was during the T20 World Cup final in 2007 that I got the sense he is a very special kind of a player. He was not the same Dhoni I had been interacting with. If you look closely, MS didn’t have any defining batting performance in that tournament but he was always there, almost in every match.
“In the final of the T20 World Cup, MS told me in advance that Kamran Akmal would be bowled as his feet were not moving. He asked me to forget about other things and just concentrate on bowling line and length,” Singh added. “I realized that he had got a tremendous reading of batsmen because I would have bowled differently to Akmal. I had asked for a different fielding set-up. But he convinced me in a way it was easier to follow,” RP Singh told Cricket.com.
Dhoni made a big name for himself by making the country proud with his achievements after coming from the cricketing backwaters of Ranchi. He has achieved immense success as a player and also grew up to be one of the most successful captains and achieved almost everything the ICC tournaments had to offer.
All the success had made him one of the most influential person on the cricketing circuit but he was not the same when he was first introduced to the national team. Besides that, MS Dhoni has also been the go-to man for his teammates whenever he was on the field.
Dhoni understood the game well. He knew the strength of the side and backs his players accordingly. He did not takes any kind of frivolous decisions and likes to maintain his calm. It is due to these qualities Dhoni came up as one of the most calm and composed character on the cricket field.
