Shaun Pollock, the South Africa pace legend, who represented his nation for 12 years named an Indian fast bowler who did not get enough credit. Pollock was one of the mainstay in South Africa’s bowling line-up. He would share the new ball with the likes of his fellow fast bowler Makhaya Ntini and they would make a lethal pair while bowling in tandem.

Currently pollock is discussing cricket for SkySports. In a podcast, he picked up the best fast bowlers, singaling out the Indian fast bowler. He picked his choice in the podcast, along side the West Indies legend Michael Holding and premier England fast bowler Stuart Broad.

Javagal Srinath didn’t get the credit: Shaun Pollock

Javagal Srinath was one of the fastest bowler ever to don the Indian jersey. He brought the Indian fast bowling into limelight again after the Kapil Dev-era. He picked up an impressive 236 Test wickets and 315 in ODIs. But his contribution went unnoticed, believes South Africa pace legend Shaun Pollock.

“I thought India’s Javagal Srinath didn’t get the credit he deserved,” said Pollock while talking about bowlers from his generation.

Pollock named Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Curtly Ambrose, Courtney Walsh, Glenn McGrath, and Brett Lee. The South African did not name a single fast bowler from the current crop of players.

“In my era, you had great combinations like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis for Pakistan and Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh for West Indies.

“Australia had Glenn McGrath and Bett Lee. You now have James Anderson and Stuart Broad in this era.

“Marshall was next level and I was lucky enough to meet him early in my career as it made me think about fast bowling in a completely different way,” he opined.

It was also interesting to see to Australian fast bowlers — Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee — making a cut into Pollock’s list of premier seamers across generations.
