The Indian Skipper, Virat Kohli slammed his maiden Test ton on the second day of the first Test against England at Edgbaston. His splendid knock deciphered the mystery of English bowling and nullified the lead at the same time. However, Kohli falls on the similar line as of legendary Sachin Tendulkar and  Windies great Brian Lara.

However, Kohli’s performance hints out that there is a ‘disguise in the blessing.’ The batting mainstay is famous for his determination and temperament when it comes to having hunger of runs.

His Edgbaston knock proves why he is the best in the business across all forms. Despite this, his performance hints out that there is no other player on whom India would have shown somewhat a little responsibility.

It is only the Indian skipper, who stands tall when it comes to facing quality bowling and difficult batting conditions. Amongst the ruins, one can see only Kohli, who fights like a warrior against the challenging circumstances.

India may have many great batsmen in the world right now, but when it comes to consistency, they are consistently inconsistent.

It is hard to believe that with the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, and Shikhar Dhawan, India is wholly and solely dependable on one man’s and that’s to be Kohli. This very fact shakes our mind when we have a glance at the ICC Test rankings.

Five Indian batsmen rank inside top 30:

Kohli is facing a similar kind of alienation what Brian Lara or his ideal Sachin Tendulkar felt at his times.

However, this emerging ton is undoubtedly not a good one for India. Team India needs to whip up, and Kohli joins the party, or they are facing collapse, they need him to bail them out. All these things seem nothing new to an Indian fan.

The Storyline of Sachin Tendulkar:

Indeed, the Indian fan who grow up in the 90s can feel nostalgiac while going through the above lines. It was a story of every day for the idol of Kohli, and now he is going through the same.

With the likes of Allan Donald, Wasim Akram and Glenn McGrath or one can say ten others versus Tendulkar, India fell whenever Tendulkar struggled. This case is most visible in the early decade of his cricketing career. It was like eat, sleep, repeat for us.

Moreover, it is not something like hitting an arrow in the darkness, but the innings like 119 vs England in 1990 or 114 against Australia supports this cause.

One would be about familiar about the second highest score of 143 from Tendulkar then. Put it aside, how would someone forget his 136 against arch-rivals Pakistan in the famous 1999 Sharjah Test.

This special knock from him helped India to get so much closer to the chase however soon he fell, India find themselves a little short.

Sadly, this same story continued in the first decade of the 21st century as well. India lost nine wickets for 29 against South Africa in the World Cup 2011. India met with this collapse after being 267 for the loss of one wicket.

It is unfortunate to say that the present skipper of India, Kohli has to bear the same burden.

Who would have known that Kohli will meet the similar fate in the team issue as well apart from technique and hunger for runs? The comparisons between Tendulkar and Kohli started pretty early.

A brief description of Brian Lara:

In another example, the former Windies, Brian Lara used to meet with the similar kind of fate. After his retirement, there is the decline of the Windies from last eight decades.

Someone has said it very well one values something only when they leave us or when they get little far from us. The protagonists of our story share a similar fate.

The cricketing world realises how hard it could have been for Lara to face loss despite his solo performances. He collected near 700 runs in a three matches Test series against Sri Lanka in 2003. It is tragic to know that Sri Lanka lost the series by 3-0.

Virat Kohli is sharing a similar kind of story. He amassed 200 runs in the Edgbaston Test, but everyone is aware of the ending results of the match.

Indeed, it emerges is an eerily pattern that is going on, and India needs to resolve this very issue as soon as possible.

Let our skipper, Virat Kohli not to exhale the pain as our other two characters; Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara used to do.
