Watch: Yuzvendra Chahal Roasted By Rohit Sharma After Expressing His Desire Of Batting At No.3 In Virat Kohli's Absence

While Yuzvendra Chahal is definitely not known for his batting, he managed to top-score in the fourth ODI against New Zealand. With the conditions in Hamilton tough for batting, Chahal’s teammates failed to get going but he managed to showcase his potential. While 5 of India’s top six could not even reach the double-digit mark, Chahal managed to score 18. In fact, it was Chahal’s knock and his 25-run stand with Kuldeep Yadav that gave some respectability to the score board.

With Trent Boult firing on all cylinders in swinging conditions, India were reeling at 40 for 7. However, important contribution from the tail-enders helped India post 92. New Zealand had gone on to win the game by eight wickets. India, on Sunday, bounced back from the heavy thrashing to beat New Zealand by 35 runs in the fifth and final ODI.

Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first turned out to be a regrettable one early on with New Zealand bowlers all over India. Matt Henry gave the Kiwis the early breakthrough by castling Rohit Sharma before Boult accounted for Shikhar Dhawan to reduce India to 12 for 2. Highly-rated Shubman Gill failed to, scoring just 7 before Dhoni returned to the pavilion too with just 18 runs on the board. However, some fightback from Ambati Rayudu (90), Vijay Shankar (45) and Hardik Pandya (45) helped India post a challenging total of 252.

The score turned out to be more than enough in the end as India bowled out New Zealand for just 217 and wrap up the series 4-1.

Following the game, Chahal invited Rohit on Chahal TV.  The recently-started post-match show is all about having fun after winning a game and the latest episode did not disappoint either. With the skipper in a good mood following the win, Chahal asked him if he can be promoted to bat at No.3 in Virat Kohli’s absence during the upcoming T20I series against the Kiwis.

Rohit then came up with a classic reply, saying:

“He [Chahal] was our top scorer in the previous match that we lost. But I want you to be the top scorer in a match which go on to win. I will speak to Ravi Bhai for your promotion to No.3 in the T20s.”

The BCCI had also posted a snippet of the interview on Twitter where Rohit could be seen roasting Yuzvendra Chahal.
