India will play against the Netherlands in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SGC) on Thursday, October 27. The team hit the ground running with their first practice session at the SGC on Tuesday. The Rohit Sharma-led team had a sensational last-ball victory over arch-rivals Pakistan in their World Cup opening encounter.

Net bowler Muhammad Irfan Jr bowled Virat Kohli, Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in the nets. Irfan stated that he loved bowling against India’s star batsmen like Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Dinesh Karthik and called them as “World Class” players.

Irfan, who currently plays for the Western Suburbs District Cricket Club in Australia, left Pakistan after not being selected by any domestic team for the Pakistan first-class season.

I Enjoyed Bowling Against World Class Players – Muhammad Irfan Jr

“I bowled to Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik. Because of the pitch, I got bounce and that is why I enjoyed bowling against these three batsmen. Nets pitches and practice pitches are different because of the bounce the batters were having difficulties. All three of them are World Class players and bowling to them was fun,” Muhammad Irfan told ANI.

It Felt Great To Bowl To Virat Kohli In Nets – Muhammad Irfan Jr

Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 83 runs off 53 balls with 6 fours and 7 sixes as India pulled off a stunning four-wicket victory over Pakistan in a last-over thriller at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Melbourne last Sunday.

“Recently Virat helped India win a match against Pakistan. So, it felt great to bowl to him in nets. He is the best batsman in the world. Virat Kohli gave me best wishes and to hear it from one of the best in the world is great,” he added.

Rahul and Dinesh Karthik faced Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal in the nets in this session. Karthik and Kohli also practised throw-downs. Everything was done under the supervision of head coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathore.

Rahul and Rohit played several crisp drives and looked in good form, reducing the management’s concerns over the openers’ form slump. Rohit, who did not play a crucial knock in the match against Pakistan on Sunday, took part in a long practice session in the nets. Rishabh Pant was also seen taking some calculated strokes in the nets.
