Indian batter Virat Kohli registered a new unwanted record as he failed to cross the 20-run mark in five consecutive ODI innings for the first time in his 50-over career.

Kohli’s last five knocks read – 8, 18, 0, 16, 17. The slump continues and the premier batter fails to find a way out of the rut. He has been rested for the upcoming West Indies tour, meaning fans will have to wait for him to score some runs.

In the 3-match ODI series against England, Kohli didn’t play the first match. He had starts in both second and third ODI but threw them away chasing deliveries outside off stump.

Apart from him, Shikhar Dhawan also failed in the series while Rohit Sharma couldn’t contribute much after an unbeaten 78* in the first ODI that India won by ten wickets.

Fortunately, in the third ODI, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya proved to be the saviors as they stitched a 133-run partnership for the fifth wicket and rescued India from a precarious 72/4 while chasing 260.

Pant brought up his maiden ODI hundred in the 42nd over before completing the formalities in style with a reverse sweep off Joe Root for a boundary. The win also helped India bag the ODI series 2-1, having earlier taken the T20I series by the same margin.

Following the win, the Indian team will now head to the West Indies for a white-ball series. Kohli will not be part of either squad while Rohit will lead the T20I team.
