Delhi Capitals (DC) produced a great all-round display at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and keep their playoff hopes alive in the IPL 2022 season.
After asking Kolkata to bat first, Delhi took wickets at regular intervals to ensure Shreyas Iyer and co. don’t get away in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav was once again the wrecker-in-chief, taking 4/14 in his 3 overs.
Nitish Rana fought hard for his 34-ball 57, a knock that included 3 fours and 4 massive sixes. Shreyas also played a great hand in rebuilding the innings with his 42 but they could only muster 146 on the board.
In response, Delhi lost Prithvi Shaw on the very first ball to Umesh Yadav. The experienced pacer came back later to take two more crucial wickets including that of the opposition skipper, Rishabh Pant.
At 84/5, DC looked in trouble but they were rescued by a timely knock from Axar Patel. The all-rounder released the pressure built on his team by smashing a quickfire 24 that took Delhi closer to the total.
In the end, Rovman Powell stayed and took his side over the line with one over to spare. With the win, Delhi moved up to 6th place on the points table with 4 wins and 4 losses. As for KKR, they have now lost their 5th game in a row and continue languishing in the 8th spot.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to DC vs KKR:

Looks like both the teams tried their best to lose, but only one succeeded. Anyways, positive for DC is that David Warner is still looking in fine touch.. would be a delight to see his next few innings. DC’s playoffs hope is still very much alive. #KKRvDC #TATAIPL2022

Kkr batting has been such a worry. Well done DC on your win. Kuldeep yadav has been consistently bowling so well ?

DC were able to arrest mid-innings slump and finally win fairly easily. KKR underwhelming in batting and bowling once again. After an impressive start to the season, things have gone haywire for them as 5defeats on the trot highlight

You can't win a game if
Venky,Shreyas & Rana are bowling in such a low scoring game.
I may be wrong but i felt Shreyas lost the game before KKR lost it.
Harne se phle haar maan lene waale nahi jeet sakte
He could hv brought up his best bowler 1 wicket & Dc wud hv been in pressure https://t.co/p5UoaVHKs2— Priyank Sahai (@priyank_sahai) April 28, 2022
