DC vs RR: Watch - Drama Pans Out In The Last Over As Rishabh Pant Calls Back His Players From Crease, Crowd Chants "No Ball-No Ball" After Umpire Refuses To Give Above Waist No Ball

DC needed 36 runs in the last over to win the match and Obed McCoy was bowling the last over and Rovman Powell was on the strike and Powell smashed 3 sixes in the first three balls. However, the third ball, which was smashed for a six, was above the waist of the batter but the third umpire didn’t notice it.

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was furious at this move by the third umpire and he was demanding a no-ball for the height. Also, the entire Delhi Capitals camp was not happy with the umpire’s decision.

It was a perfect storm where things got out of hand – Shane Watson

The Delhi Capitals assistant coach Shane Watson while talking about the incident said that it was chaotic and hard and with Ricky Ponting’s unavailability it became even more difficult.

“Yeah, I’ve seen that meme of me talking to Rishabh with my hand out. It got a little bit of coverage!” Watson said in The Grade Cricketer podcast.

“It was chaotic for those couple of minutes. It was pretty hard. But in the end, it is what it is. There are times when either side isn’t always happy with some decisions. So, you got to get on with it. But you look back at all those couple of minutes and saw the difference in all the parts that happened around. And Ricky Ponting not being there as well didn’t help direct the ship. In a way, it was a perfect storm where things got out of hand,” Watson said.

He added that no one in the Delhi Capitals camp is proud of the incident that took place that night.

“No one is proud of what happened out there. We have to digest and get on with it,” the former Australian all-rounder further added.

Notably, after that incident, Rishabh Pant and Pravin Amre were fined 100 per cent of their match fees also the latter was banned from one game. Pacer Shardul Thakur was also handed over a fine of 50 per cent of his match fees.
