Mayank Agarwal And Arshdeep Singh Retained By Punjab Kings (PBKS) For IPL 2022. Punjab Kings have announced their retentions for IPL 2022. The team has named 2 players in their retentions list. The deadline for announcing the retentions list was November 30, 2021 and all 8 teams have come up with their final decisions on IPL 2022 retentions.

Lucknow and Ahmedabad are the 2 new franchises that will be part of IPL 2022, thus making it a 10-team tournament in the 2022 season. Hence, a mega auction is also set to take place ahead of next year’s tournament. Ahead of the auction, the teams were asked to retain a maximum of 4 players in their squads.

Punjab Kings Announce IPL 2022 Retentions List

Punjab Kings have retained 2 players in their squad. All these 2 players are domestic players. They are Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh. All 8 teams could retain a maximum of 3 domestic players and a maximum of 2 overseas players out of 4 players in their retentions list for IPL 2022.

Punjab Kings, who changed their name from Kings XI Punjab in IPL 2021, witnessed a miserable show in the tournament. During the league stage, Punjab Kings played 14 matches, winning 6 and losing 8. As a result, they managed to get only 12 points in their kitty and finished on the 6th spot in the points table, and did not qualify for playoffs.

Now, after the retentions list is announced by all the teams, the two new franchises Lucknow and Ahmedabad can pick 3 players from the pool of released players. These two teams can pick these players from December 1 to December 25, 2021. Out of these 3 players, 2 should be domestic players while 1 can be an overseas player.

Every team will have a salary purse of Rs. 90 crore during IPL 2021 auction, 5 crores more than the previous edition. For retaining the players, the teams will lose some amount from their salary purse. For retaining 4 players, Rs. 42 crore will be reduced from a team’s salary purse. For retaining 3 players, Rs. 33 crore will be reduced. Similarly, for retaining 2 and 1 players, Rs. 24 crore and Rs. 14 crore will be deducted respectively from the salary purse of each team.
