Mumbai Indians bought a total of 21 players during IPL 2022 auction. Ishan Kishan was their highest pick at Rs. 15.25 crore. Murugan Ashwin, Jofra Archer, Daniel Sams, and Tim David were some of the other key players that the team picked in their squad.

Ahead of IPL 2022 auction, Mumbai Indians had an available salary cap of Rs. 48 crores. The franchise spent Rs. 16 crores to retain Rohit Sharma, Rs. 12 crores for Jasprit Bumrah, Rs. 8 crores for Suryakumar Yadav, and Rs. 6 crores for Kieron Pollard.

Mumbai Indians is the most successful franchise in Indian Premier League. The franchise has clinched the trophy five times. They won the titles in IPL 2013, IPL 2015, IPL 2017, IPL 2019, and IPL 2020. The team also ended as runners-up in IPL 2010. Out of 14 seasons so far, MI has reached the playoffs 9 times.

Last year, the team had a comparatively poor show. The Rohit Sharma-led side failed to even qualify for playoffs. Winning 7 games and losing 7 out of 14 during the league stage, the team finished on the 5th spot in the points table. They lost the playoffs’ seat to Kolkata Knight Riders on net run rate.
