ILT20 To Promote Cricket Among Associate Nations By Conducting A Continental Cup In Kenya

The International League T20 (ILT20) has taken a major step to promote cricket in the associate nations. The UAE-based ILT20 is all set to organize a Continent Cup T20 in Kenya to help International Cricket Council grow cricket in different parts of the world. 

The Continent Cup T20 will begin on 9th June in Kenya with the final set to take place on 23rd June. A total of 9 teams will take part in the tournament and the games will be played at Nairobi Gymkhana. The nine teams include Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Uganda.

“The International League T20 is committed to the growth of the sport not only in the UAE but across the world. There is a real passion for cricket in Africa and we feel that we need to provide them the encouragement and the backing that will help them emerge on the cricket scene.”

“We would continue to support such endeavours around the world,” says Mubashshir Usmani 

Mubashshir Usmani said that Continent Cup T20 will allow teams a good platform to make a mark on the international stage. He remarked that they would continue to support associate nations and will also look into the growth of their tournament. He said: 

“The Continent Cup T20 Africa will feature teams that are eager to make a mark at the international level. The Kenyan team was a force to reckon with in the years gone by and the cricketing world would like to see them re-emerge as a potent force. We would continue to support such endeavours around the world while focusing on the growth of our own tournament and UAE men’s and women’s cricket.” 

The ILT20 was inaugurated this year. The tournament had six teams in Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, and Sharjah Warriors. It had a great response from the players as many global superstars were part of it.
