MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Sunday, May 1.

Sunrisers Hyderabad once again won the toss in the Indian Premier League 2022 and they invited Chennai Super Kings to bat first and the decision didn’t favour the side as the Chennai Super Kings openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway went berserk against the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling unit. After the brilliant 99 by Ruturaj Gaikwad and 85* by Devon Conway CSK were able to score 202 runs.

Chasing the target, SRH opening duo of Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma did a good job but the middle-order failed. In the end, Nicholas Pooran played an aggressive knock but it was not enough for them to win the match. Also, Chennai Super Kings registered their third win in the Indian Premier League 2022.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, MS Dhoni said that the score of 202 runs was a good one to defend. He also said that the change of captaincy didn’t change much for the team. He asserted:

It was a good score to start off. I did nothing different, it’s not like much changes with the change of captain. The target we got was a good one, dew comes in so the bowling needed to be good.”

MS Dhoni also said that the spinner did a good job in the middle overs and it played a big role in their win. He said:

The spinners did well in the 7-14 over the period, that was key to the win and gave a surplus of runs which we could fall back on.”

MS Dhoni also revealed advice that he has given to his bowlers for the pressure situation during the matches. He asserted:

We have had quite a few good performances with the bat, but we give 25 off 2 overs and their like, the bowlers have to try something different. I have told my bowlers that if bowlers get hit for 4 sixes off the over, two balls are left and something can be done. Not sure everyone buys in with such theories but I think it works.
